This was one of those recipies where you think let’s try something without chocolate! Yes I know it sounds blasfamous to chocolate lovers, me included but my daughter loved it and it ticked off one of her 5 fruit a day goal 😁 and was absolutely delishious.

3 pears (peeled and washed)

2 tsp soft light brown sugar

1/4 tsp cinnamon

1/4 tsp cardomom

1/4 tsp vanilla extract

1/4 tsp dry rose petals

1/4 tsp ground saffron

1/2 cup cold water

1/2 tsp pistachio slivers for garnish

1/2 tsp almond slivers for garnish

Peel and wash 3 ripe pears and set aside.

In a medium sized saucepan large enough to fit the pears in. Add all the dry ingredients and the vanilla extract.

Add the water stir so that all the sugar disolves and dry spices mix well.

Add the pears to the syrup and place on a high heat for 10 minutes until the water comes to the boil.

Reduce the heat to low and allow the pears and syrup to simmer for another 10 / 15 minutes. While simmering take a tablespoon and pie the syrup over the pears to ensure all sides get covered with the syrup.

The syrup should not be thick, but slightly runny

Remove from the heat and allow to cool.

Garnish with pistachio and almond slivers.

Happy eating.
